About

I’m Jennifer Obidike—at heart, a nomad; in practice an American who's been living in London for more than a decade. Reading and writing have always been a crucial part of my identity. When writing friends wouldn’t let me hear the end of how useful my feedback was, I decided to start Let Me Read for You in 2018. I have a Master's degree in Creative Writing from the New School, and a Bachelor's degree in English Literature and Women's Studies from the University of Michigan.

As a ghostwriter and co-writer represented by the agent Naz Ahsun, I’ve worked with major publishing houses including Penguin Random House, HarperCollins, and Bonnier to bring to life the stories of household names. My latest book, Calling Una Marson: The Extraordinary Life of a Forgotten Icon co-written with June Saprong will be out in February 2025. I also offer manuscript assessments through The Literary Consultancy. On social media you can subscribe to my Substack newsletter Fire Within Us where I explore all things spirituality, creativity and intuition.

In terms of what I engage with as a structural editor, manuscript assessor and writing coach, I love reading literary fiction for the pure escape of delving into the lives of unique characters. I’m a sucker for lyrical writing, dark humour, and character-driven narratives. In terms of non-fiction, I love reading memoir and ghostwrite memoirs for household names.

Across both genres – literary fiction and non-fiction – I love working with writing that is bold, intimate, heart-breaking, open-minded, brave, and beautifully written. I also love all things spiritual and metaphysical. So, if you’re interested in working with a writing coach or want a manuscript assessed or edited, please keep these things in mind.

Connecting with people 1-on-1 and fostering meaningful relationships is a big deal to me, so whether I’m ghostwriting, coaching, or editing, this is the thread that runs through all my work. When deciding to work with clients, I lean on intuition, a sense of mutual excitement, the client’s passion, and the strength of their ideas, writing style, and storyline.
